| | 3 Interventions | Music stolen from other works recreated for violin
and piano | | Death & Resurrection | Quintet for Flute, Clarinet, Violin, Cello &
Piano. Chamber music theatre, commissioned by Onix ensemble of Mexico, 2006 This is a personal work that is related to techniques and ideas common to recent compositions
such as my Clarinet Quintet (2004) and Songs Between Words (2003). They explore gestural composition – a visible
and perhaps inaudible representation of music beyond music, presented here as a kind of transfiguration with which the
present work ends. The work would be best presented played from memory by the flautist, positioned at the centre of the
small ensemble, as if a flute concerto in miniature. |
